As Children’s Mental Health Week ends we reflected on the concerning statistic that 1 in 6 children are affected by mental ill health.
As many of us are aware going through a relationship breakdown, a divorce, changes in living arrangements, financial stresses and domestic abuse can create a stressful environment for any children of the family.
It is important during these difficult times to be well supported and to receive good advice so that you can reduce the trauma as much as possible for all involved.
Our team are Resolution members which means where possible we will always guide you with a non-confrontational and constructive approach. This generally provides a conciliatory resolution lessening any impact on the children.
Our advice will always be focused on the best interests of your children – in the short, medium and long term.
Some parents find it particularly difficult and challenging to co-parent their children following relationship breakdown. We would advocate a child arrangements agreement in these circumstances. This can set out, when the children spend time with either parent, grandparents, holiday arrangements, schooling, religion etc. It can also stipulate agreements for the parties to engage in parenting workshops and family therapy.
The flexibility of these child arrangement agreements means that they can be a great tool for separated families and can be amended and updated as the children grow and their needs change.
Our Family solicitors are available on 0161 924 0079 to discuss your needs and how we can best support you and your family through this time.
