{"id":835,"date":"2020-05-04T13:14:09","date_gmt":"2020-05-04T13:14:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lundbennett.co.uk\/blog\/?p=835"},"modified":"2021-01-20T09:30:12","modified_gmt":"2021-01-20T09:30:12","slug":"revealeda-surge-in-domestic-violence-during-covid-19-pandemic","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lundbennett.co.uk\/blog\/revealeda-surge-in-domestic-violence-during-covid-19-pandemic\/","title":{"rendered":"Revealed: A surge in Domestic Violence during COVID-19 Pandemic"},"content":{"rendered":"\r\n<p>A report by the Guardian has revealed shocking statistics revealed that domestic violence has surged since the start of the coronavirus lockdown, as the home secretary, Priti Patel, insisted that help for all victims of abuse was available.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>The UK\u2019s largest domestic abuse charity, Refuge, has reported a 700% increase in calls to its helpline in a single day, while a separate helpline for perpetrators of domestic abuse seeking help to change their behaviour received 25% more calls after the start of the Covid-19 lockdown.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Data from around the world suggest that the introduction of lockdowns has led to a&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/society\/2020\/mar\/28\/lockdowns-world-rise-domestic-violence\" target=\"_blank\">rise in domestic abuse<\/a>, with victims unable to avoid perpetrators.<br><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>For a minority of financially blessed and happy families, lockdown might seem almost holiday.
